4 Types Of Film Openings and analysis of a film title (Research)

Film Openings:

1.Titles on a blank screen
2.titles on still images
3.titles over moving images
4.titles using animation and motion.

After analysing each of these title sequences, I personally like the use of titles using animation or motion. This is mainly because there is a further adaptation of digital technology and stylized editing which makes the title sequence much more interesting as they do in fact give hints to what is expected in the film which creates a sense of mystery.

One particular title sequence I enjoyed that used animation and motion was the film, Casino Royale. The film stars off with the fictional character of James Bond who is shown at the very beginning in a narration of an establishing shot where the scene is taking place. The use of moving animated images of red hearts suggests the idea of gambling followed on by the images of guns shooting into these hearts as a metaphor, implying that there will be a sense of action and thriller in the film. This is further implied by the use of animated characters shown in black and one in red to emphasise on the "deck of cards" used in a poker game. This allows the audience to have an understanding  of what is to be expected in the film and to allow themselves to be prepared for the type of genre.

The credits list many names with job titles, they appear in this order: production company, main stars, writer of the book that the film was based on, co-stars, associate producer, sound unit director, costume designer, editor, director of photography, production designer, writer/singer and producer of the song being played along with the director of music for the whole of the film, executive producers and then a repetition of the novel writer. As most films do the credits end with the producer and the director last.

Here is the title sequence...enjoy and watch for yourself :)
