43. Reflection

What went well:

The editing process went well. However, the filming process was unsuccessful and quite difficult as everyone had their own ideas for the film. This outburst of ideas collided and made it hard to film successfully.

What needs to be re-shot:

The establishing shots of the college need to be re-shot. This is because the shots were too shaky and unstable, which makes it hard for our audience to focus. This can be resolved by using a tripod, a stand that will help support the camera and keep the shots stable. We need to re-shoot the scenes of the main characters walking into college because the shots are inconsistent and each scene makes it appear like the characters are a different height, which outlines our inability to film consistently.

Successfulness of costumes choices:

Honestly, I don't think our choice of costumes was successful. This is because all the costumes are pretty ordinary and it's hard to get an idea of the characters personality or characteristics. Usually, high-school drama films outline or hint what a characters going to be like through their clothing. However, in our high-school drama film it's hard to grasp the characteristics of our characters through their clothing. For example, the character Annie in our film is intended to be a funny character, but this is not evident by what she wears and throughout the film the audience are unable to determine the characteristics of her and the other characters.

Successfulness of locations choices:

We chose to use the college (City and Islington) as the main location for our film. This was an essential location for our high-school drama film. However, we faced minor problems which involved students, entering and leaving college, getting caught in our shots. This led to us spending time waiting for the students to move and leave the shot, which meant we missed out on filming time. We didn't mind them being caught in some shots as this would create the realistic illusion of a high-school drama, but we had specific shots that were exclusive to our main characters and didn't want them to be in it.

What changes we need to make as we go along:

  • We need to change our choice of clothing to make them more suitable for our characters.
  • We need to re-shoot shaky scenes with a tripod to ensure it's less shaky and more stable.
