Blogging - Health Check 3

Health Check 3

Feedback:

"Just a quick note re. your blog. As Rebecca has said in the feedback to Jessica, you must have more blogs about the editing process itself. Use some screenshots (see Instashot folder on your hard drive) or capture the whole process via Camtasia and narrate a short video. Explain what you are doing exactly, what filters or effects you have used and any other different Final Cut commands. Try and consider what skills you have developed and how the editing process has improved your understanding of film-making. Try and get this up as soon as possible.

You might also want to get some audience feedback – find a member of your target audience, show them your film – bulletpoint their reaction and your response – what last minute changes will you make as a result of their feedback?

Hope this helps – your blog is generally well kept and so far has a nice record of the production process, you just need more posts on editing."

Targets:

  • Add more blogs about the editing process. Use some screenshots (see Instashot folder on our hard drive) or capture the whole process via Camtasia and narrate a short video.
  • Explain what we are doing exactly, what filters or effects we have used and any other different Final Cut commands.
  • Try and consider what skills we have developed and how the editing process has improved our understanding of film-making.
  • Get some audience feedback – find a member of our target audience, show them our film – bullet point their reaction and our response. Make necessary changes as a result of their feedback.

Character Representation and Costume - KATE UPDATE

Character representation and costume- Kate Update

Throughout the filming process we have been told that our costumes do not clearly represent our characters persona enough, and that it should be shown clearer through our characters so we are able to tell the roles they play in the film.

  1. I have changed my character, Kates costume to match her profile. Kates character mimics an Old school / 90's hiphop fan in contrast to her old character profile which is a big change to her old character representation which was meant to be a cheerleader.

Production Diary no.7

This is the last day of shooting.
We re-short the scene where Eric's character knocks Atiyah's characters lipstick out of her hand, and then him and his friends walk off casually. We also did the photo-shoot for the film's website.

Jerk/Jock and stuck-up friends walk towards the 3 girls; Jerk 'accidently' knocks the lipstick out of hip-hop girl Kate's hand; The three girls turn towards Jerk and friends as they casually walk away and continue their banter; Camera tilts up and to girls shocked/angry faces; Kate character outburst, where the scene ends

Surprisingly, we were able to finish all the scenes today, despite the change in characters (Eric's friends weren't available to shoot again). We didn't face any delays or technical problems today, which is why it went so quickly. We only had to do around 12 takes, which is a record for our group.

Blogging Health-Check

Marked by Rebecca:

50 posts at final health check.  It's looking like just a Level 4 blog.  To improve and ensure it's Level 4 you must do the following:
- must have coverage of the editing process - at the moment there is only one entry about editing and no images of the editing process.  This needs to be fixed before final deadline on Friday.
- get feedback on your film before the deadline from the target audience.

To improve I need to add extra information, including visuals in my editing post, as well as go back to the 28th post as I did not complete the last task

Chad Nguyen - Character Description and Jacket choice

My character is Chad Nguyen – a stereotypical jock and “jerk”. Chad is the captain of his high school football team. He is given special treatment by teachers, such as little to no punishment for bad behaviour. As the jock in our high school teen drama film, I’m known as the muscle-head. This is because jocks are stereotyped as muscular, and not clever. Chad is an ego-maniac that mainly talks about his accomplishments in football, and sex-life. He’s a jerk that bullies and mistreats people that he considers “losers” and not as popular as him. Other characteristics of Chad Nguyen are:

·         Arrogant and rude
·         Violent, aggressive and short-tempered
·         Generally popular with girls
·         Enjoys sex
·         Trouble-maker

A jock is represented and shown by his clothes, especially the jacket. The jacket Chad wears plays an important role in representing him as the jock and jerk. I have to carefully think about the jacket I choose to wear when acting as Chad.

Jacket 1
Jacket 2
I looked through my wardrobe and narrowed my jacket options down to two jackets. Personally, I think these two jackets are the most suitable jackets I have for representing a jock character, Chad Nguyen. However, I think jacket 1 is more appropriate when representing a jock. This is because the jacket is big, and the design makes the person wearing the jacket look muscular and stocky - stereotypical characteristics of a jock.

Character costume and representation [UPDATE] - Annie

My character Annie has gotten a huge wardrobe change since the last tme we filmed. I looked on http://gamewise.co/games/48736/High-School-Story/Student-Types and http://hss.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Classmate_Types  to find out what types of typical characters a film critic is to expect in a high school movie, and I thought "hispter" best suited my role, as the funny artsy one of the group. So I look up some outifit inspo on Google Images and drew together my own outfit using the following:

And came up with...
